Monitor the net exposure to light of objects on display

Textile fading cards are a standard method of testing for the effects of light on paintings, textiles and documents while on display.

Eight pieces of wool cloth tinted with blue dyes of different degrees of light fastness are mounted on a card. Cover one half of the card and monitor changes to exposed surfaces of wool strips. If a change occurs, the objects on display might be rotated or the intensity of illumination should be adjusted.

Cards conform to the ISO 105-B01 standard.
