Acryloid Barrier

Se Habla EspaƱol

Clear base coat provides a barrier between specimen and accession number

Features:
  • Available in fluid or crystal form
  • Reversible, with long-term integrity

  • Description:
Applying a clear lacquer layer on an object prevents inked numbers from bleeding into the object and allows for removal, if necessary.

    Options:
Acryloid B-67 (isobutyl methacrylate polymer) is chemically inert and resistant to discoloring, aging, temperature changes and exposure. It may yellow slightly over time but the resin has better working properties than B-72. The crystals are soluble in xylene, toluene, mineral spirits and aromatic solvents. Test before using on painted or unpainted non-porous surfaces. Do not use on wax figures.

Acryloid B-72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) is a general purpose, non-yellowing resin with excellent flexibility and the best aging properties of barrier materials. The crystals are soluble in toluene, xylene and methanol. As a barrier, it is usually used in a 25% solution. Use only on unpainted non-porous surfaces in a ventilated area. Not for use on plastics
